7v7LV LEAGUE: GAME IS THE BEST TEACHER
World’s coaching elite agree that 7v7 soccer games provide a valuable tool in player development for all ages at all levels. World Cup 2026 demonstrated the highest levels of technical skills by players operating in tighter spaces as well as their ability for quick thinking and faster decision making. Most professional teams implement 7v7 games within the team in their weekly training sessions. 7v7LV League provides an opportunity for teams in Las Vegas to participate in organized soccer matches against opponents of same level.
7v7LV Soccer League is introduced in Las Vegas to teams wanting to supplement their weekly training and player development with a 7v7 game against local competition. The League provides coaches with opportunities to improve their teams and players through organized small-sided games. The league is open to teams ages U8-U19.
7v7LV League resolves two major problems for coaches:
- Playing time
- Field space for a game like training
Playing Time – U8-10 teams typically have 10-12 players so typically there is not a playing time issue. For U11-12 teams if the team has a roster of 12, they will enter one team. If they have a roster of 14-16, they can split the team and enter two teams. For U13-U19 the coach can split the team and enter two teams. This allows all players in the team to participate in the game with no playing time issues. For teams splitting into two, back-to-back games will be scheduled to assist the coach. The two teams will not be scheduled to play each other unless the coach requests it. For more details, please review the roster section under the Rules.
Game Like Training – Coaches are always challenged with training space to conduct small-sided games or work on defending and fishing and group play. An extra small-sided game provides a great opportunity for coaches to work on tactical aspects of the game and prepare them better for their 11v11 games.
LEAGUE OBJECTIVES/BENEFITS – Mastering Principals of the Game
7v7 soccer games provide more ball touches, faster decision-making, and higher physical engagement compared to full-sized matches. They help players build technical skills, improve cardiovascular fitness, and stay actively involved in both attacking and defending phases. For player development purposes 7v7 games offer major technical, tactical, and physical advantages over full 11v11 matches.
Technical/Tactical Development & Decision Making
- More ball touches: Players interact with the ball significantly more often, accelerating confidence and control.
- Frequent 1v1 encounters: Constantly force players into attacking and defending duels.
- More scoring opportunities: Produces high volumes of shots, dribbling, and finishing opportunities.
- Quader/Angled passing: Naturally builds passing triangles and improves passing lanes.
- Simplified game reading: Fewer teammates and opponents make tactical patterns easier to recognize and solve.
- Quick decisions: Reduced space and time force players to scan the field and react faster under pressure.
- Positional awareness: Teaches basic spatial awareness, tracking back, and transitional play.
- Dual-role participation: Everyone must transition smoothly between attacking and defending, avoiding isolated positions.
Physical and Mental Conditioning
- Match-realistic fitness: Continuous stop-and-go movements build high-intensity endurance better than traditional running drills.
- Cardio fitness: Smaller team sizes mean higher player mobility and continuous running over a medium-sized pitch.
- High metabolic demand: Keeps heart rates elevated due to continuous transition and short recovery windows.
- Constant involvement: No player can hide; everyone actively participates in both transition, attack, and defense.
- Greater enjoyment: Constant involvement keeps players motivated, engaged, and having fun
